This unit, we have been learning about different bodies of water. Lakes are bodies of water surrounded by land. They are usually contain freshwater, but there are also some salt water lakes. Lakes often are gorgeous and are surrounded by impressive scenery!
There are many beautiful lakes in Spain. Here are examples of some of the most interesting lakes in different regions of Spain. Have you been to any of these? Are there any lakes not on this list that you´ve been to?
Lagos de Covadonga
The Lagos de Covadonga are Alpine lakes located in Picos de Europa National Park in Austurias. They are surrounded by the beautiful mountains of Asturias. You might even see some cows!
Laguna de Fuente de Piedra
While most lakes contain freshwater, Laguna de Fuente de Piedra in Malaga, Andalucia is a salt-water lake! It also has the largest flamingo colony in the Iberian peninsula.
Laguna de Torrevieja
If you love the color pink, Laguna de Torrevieja in Alicante, Valencia is the lake for you! The lake is a vibrant pink color because of the species of bacteria in the lake.
Lago de Sanabria
Lago de Sanabria in Zamora, Castille y Leon is the largest glacial lake in the Iberian Peninsula! The river Tera flows into the Lago de Sanabria. The area surrounding the lake also has wild wolves!
